The Hispanic population has grown larger in the United States as time has passed, and Hispanics now represent more than 15 percent of the total population in the country. Because of this, National Hispanic Heritage Month was enacted into law in 1988 to celebrate the achievements and contributions Hispanics continue to make for the U.S.
